OUR STORY
In 2023, a small youth roller derby program from Sand Springs, kept alive by one dedicated mom, found a new home with Roughneck Roller Derby.
What started as a handful of determined skaters has grown into a community of 32 young athletes, ages 7-17, who are discovering something extraordinary: their own power.
Roller derby isn't just a sport. It's where kids who felt invisible find their voice. Where the anxious become confident. Where the uncertain become unstoppable.

Supportive
Every skater matters, every family belong, every body size has an advantage, and every kid has a place on the track.
Community
Families, skaters, coaches, adult roller derby skater, officials, fans - we all help make this sport possible.
How it works:
Roller Derby for kids.
Ages: 7-17 years old
Genders: All genders welcome (open gender team)
Skill Levels: We meet kids where they are
Skill-Based Progression (Not Age-Based!)
Your child advances as their skills grow, not based on their age.
Level 0/1: Learning to Skate
Building foundational skating skills (balance, stopping, turning, falling safely).
Level 2: Positional Blocking
Game Ready! Learning derby strategy and positioning. Blocking without full contact.
Level 3: Full Contact
Game Ready! Full-contact gameplay following JRDA rules.
This means 7-year-olds and 17-year-olds might practice together if they're at the same skill level. We celebrate progress, not age! But safety is FIRST PRIORITY, and we only advance skaters as they are ready.
Our Community
32 skaters ages 7-17
30 families in the Tulsa community
4 seasons of building champions
1 World Cup athlete (and counting!)
100% of skaters report increased confidence
